The Renault Garage was a car showroom bought by Weston College to turn into a teaching classroom. The new classroom was to be used by apprentice mechanics and would house cars, lifting equipment, compressed air and all associated tools.
BJP were appointed to design the M&E services for the new teaching block. The former car show area needed complete re-lighting, redesign of electrical power to accommodate lifting equipment and a specialist car exhaust extract system. Several new IT classrooms were created within the space as well as a new changing area. BJP were asked to retain what they could of the existing services and replace any that were unsuitable for a teaching environment.
The entire project was designed, installed and commissioned within a three-month period. BJP designed new air conditioning, mechanical ventilation, fire alarms, power, compressed air and data systems for the building to produce a modern specialist teaching facility.
