The HUB is a large two floor teaching block built to replace an old out of date building. The new HUB has 8 classrooms, a large library, dining hall, 6 offices and a commercial kitchen. The kitchen was designed with a large mechanical ventilation hood and gas proving system.
BJP carried out a full design of the M&E services associated with the new building as well as all thermodynamic simulations and utility connections required for the project. BJP’s design included underfloor heating, radiators and trench heating, VRF cooling, mechanical and natural ventilation, hot and cold water, power, data, lighting, fire alarms and a large PV array spread over two buildings.
The HUB’s new library used high glazed walls to create a light and energetic space. BJP’s careful use of lighting and trench heating helped support and enhance the architectural design for the room.
The HUB was constructed on time and on budget and was opened successfully in time for the new academic year.
