Southmead Hospital Pre-Operative Assessment Ward
Relocation and refurbishment project to create 16 new pre-operative assessment rooms, 3 offices and reception area.
The project was a fast track scheme for the healthcare trust requiring a clear strategy to separate the services between the landlord of that part of the estate and the building section to be leased. The design was progressed to enable the Contractor to start without delay and the Ward to be available for opening within the end dates.
The 12-week construction saw a full refurbishment of the previous in-patient Weston ward, run by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust. The move has opened up spaces in the Brunel building for more same-day emergency care to be delivered. It has also created more assessment rooms for the pre-operative team which can provide additional capacity in the future.
